About the survey
The independent measure of how families and educators experience school photography in the United States, refreshed each survey wave and built for the studios and operators who run the programs.
The School Photographers of America (SPOA) is the industry body representing professional school and youth photography operators. SPOA exists to raise standards, share research, and advocate for the studios who photograph the nation's students.
Captura is the survey's delivery partner, responsible for instrument design, data collection, consolidation, and this microsite. Captura builds software and research tooling for the photography industry.
The School Photography Industry Report is an independent, ongoing survey of parents and educators across the United States. It began in 2021 and is refreshed each wave: a living benchmark of how families actually experience school photography, rather than a one-off snapshot.
It's written for the people who run school photography: studio owners and operators, lab and software partners, and the schools they serve. Where a finding carries a clear operational implication for studios, we say so.
